RIP Lila

Yesterday Lila lost her battle with the cancer in her.

She was behaving relatively normally, just some reduced appetite, but during the night something inside her went wrong, and her body started to shut down. She was still conscious when we found her and we were able to talk to her. She could not move, but she was watching  us and listening to us. We rushed her to the vet but it was too late. Her kidneys had already started to shut down and she had suffered immense blood loss and was in septic shock. We held her and let her know it would be over soon as the vet let her go.

The last 8 months post-amputation she had acted happier than ever. Here is a recent photo:

I am confident we did everything could with her, and at least bought her almost a full year of happy time that she otherwise wouldn’t have had.

I miss her booowooo bark immensely.

RIP beautiful girl.

Lila keeping everyone on their toes

April 24th, 2013

Lila this week suddenly developed a bump on her belly. She was licking it and it was bleeding. We took her to the oncologist, expecting bad news. A week from today she is supposed to go off chemo.

Turns out it was just an inflamed infection. Thanks for scaring us Lila! Haha!

Happy Triday from Trila!

Sorry for disappearing Tripawds!

Don’t worry, it’s not because of anything bad happening. In fact, quite the opposite. Lila is a trooper and we really have had little or no problems from her post-operation and on chemo.

She is confidently hopping on her own. She has resumed her role as the bossy lady of the house.

She has had no problems with the surgery, and has had only one reaction to the chemo but it wasn’t anything the cleaning staff of the hosue (aka me) couldn’t handle. She has been back to the oncologist many times, starting with once a week, then once every other week, then once a month, and now once every other month. They have not found a single trace of the cancer left in her, and she does not show any signs of being sick.

She will be off chemo in 2 months. I hope she will have many hopping years ahead of her. I do not know what I would do if I did not have her “booo wooo wooo” to look forward to when I come home from work.

Here is a photo of her I took this morning. Begging for attention, as usual 😀

Lila came home today. She is hopping fairly well but tires out pretty quickly. Her one back foot keeps slipping and so I’m thinking about getting her a boot for traction. It’s going to be a long couple weeks but I’m glad she is okay.

Operation Today

November 12th, 2012

The oncologist called to let us know that both her swelling and her tumor have shrunk considerably and they are planning on going forward with surgery today.

Please send good doggie vibes her way!

Hello Tripawds!

November 12th, 2012

Lila goes in tomorrow for her amputation.

But first, a little background information on this lovely lady. She was rescued by Collin County Humane Society. She was an owner surrender to the pound, but not likely by any fault of her own because she’s a wonderful dog. Here she is at the pound before she was rescued:

She is a doll for sure. Her  name fits her personality. She is very dainty and feminine, except for her low boowwwoooo bark.

This week she was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on her right hind leg. It all moved very fast but now she is going in for amputation tomorrow. We visited her today at the hospital. This the last picture of her before operation, though you can’t tell.

Good luck beautiful girl!
